Q. Why should I choose JABBERWOCKY ?
A. We believe JABBERWOCKY is the finest day charter yacht in Antigua for a number of good reasons:-
Size: On a boat size really matters! Just an extra few feet can make a big difference to the amount of space for sitting, sunbathing and generally relaxing. At 50 feet JABBERWOCKY is the largest monohull yacht available for private day charter in Antigua
Shade: JABBERWOCKY is designed with a large bimini (sunshade) which stays up even whilst sailing which is esential when you are going to be outdoors for several hours, hopefully much of it in strong sunshine
Sunbathing: Jabberwocky's size provides space on the yacht for plenty of time in the sun too
Rain: It doesn’t rain much here but when it does it sometimes rains very hard for a short time. JABBERWOCKY has a sprayhood designed to give some protection from those showers
Sails and sailing: Our sails are not just for show and we do try to sail (and switch off the engine) for as much of the day as possible
Think about all these points when deciding which boat trip you might take.
Q. How long is the day?
A. A day charter lasts from pick up at 10am to drop off around 4.30pm (Taxis are best booked for 5pm)
Q. What should we bring?
A. For everyone: Swimwear, towels, suntan lotion, sunglasses, hats (but don't forget that nice big floppy hats do tend to blow overboard!) …….and of course the camera (not forgetting a well-charged battery and plenty of available memory!)
For teenagers: perhaps their an Ipod
And for younger children: perhaps something to keep them entertained in case they lose interest in the beautiful sea, magnificent views, and peacefulness of sailing etc,
Q. Do you have snorkelling equipment?
A. Jabberwocky carries a selection of masks, snorkels and fins aboard which you are welcome to use. Please feel free to bring you own snorkel equipment if you prefer.
Q. Do you have any lifejackets?
A. Jabberwocky has a large supply of lifejackets for all ages
Q. Will we be sharing the yacht with anyone else?
A. No. - once charted JABBERWOCKY is chartered to your party alone.
Whether you are a group of 2 /4 /6 /8 or 10 people it will just be YOU, your yacht and your crew.
Q. Do you have to be a sailor to spend the day on Jabberwocky?
A. Absolutely not. Jabberwocky is a fully crewed yacht, You come on board to relax for the day while we do the hard work or if you would like help out , we are very happy to 'show you the ropes'.
Q. Do you do a sunset cruise?
A. We offer a charter beginning in the mid afternoon and contiuing until just after sunset (times vary depending upon time of sunset)
By prior arrangement a day charter can be extended to include sunset for an additional charge. In both cases the charter would include champagne and canapés at sunset.
Please note for safe navigation purposes sunset cruises always end at Jolly Harbour
Q. Where does JABBERWOCKY pick up guests?
A. We normally pick up from the Jolly Harbour Marina – this offers ideal calm water sailing along the western coast of Antigua and offers good sailing conditions whilst being protected from the sometimes rougher Atlantic seas
We can pick up in English or Falmouth Harbour by special arrangement – although guests should be prepared to expect rougher sea conditions caused by the Atlantic
Q. Where does JABBERWOCKY drop off guests?
A. We usually drop off at the same location as the pick up point unless a one way trip to another destination has been pre-arranged.
Q. What is a typical day?
A. - -Pick up at 10.00am
- Sail for a couple of hours
- Drop anchor in a pretty bay
- Swim , snorkel, relax in (or out) of the sun
- Enjoy a lazy lunch
- Sail back in the afternoon
Dropping off at 4.30pm (Return taxis should be booked for 5pm)
Q. Can we sail round the island?
A. It usually takes between 8 and 12 hours because JABBERWOCKY is a sailing yacht, dependent on wind speed and direction so we offer a trip breaking the circumnavigation into three easy relaxed days and anchoring overnight at Great Bird Island and again at Green Island.
Q. Can we go to Barbuda ?
A. It takes 5 hours to get there and the same to get back so we only offer Barbuda as part of a three day charter to give a chance to enjoy the beautiful island once you get there

A. Guests are welcome to take as much or as little part in the sailing as they wish.
Hoist the main sail, take the helm and steer the boat or just sit back and relax – its up to you!
Q. Can I learn to sail?
A. Nick is always happy to help you get a feel for the basics, although you would need several days to learn to sail
